【摘要】:Thechemicalanalysisofsediments,collectedfromsuchlocationsasstreams,rivers,lakes,andoceanscanprovideinformationofenvironmentalsignificance.Thesepracticescanbeusedwitheithersuspendedsediment(materialactivelytransportedbywater)orbedsediment(materialtemporarilyatrestonthebedofawaterbody).Standardizedpracticesfordigestingsediments,forsubsequentchemicalanalysis,willfacilitateinter-andintra-arealcomparisonsaswellascomparisonofdatageneratedbydifferentgroups.Theuseoftotaldigestionsalsoeliminatestheambiguitiesandinterpretationaldifficultiesassociatedwithpartialdigestionsandtheoperationaldefinitionsthataccompanythem.PROCEDUREAx2014;FUSIONTop1.1Thispracticecoverstwoproceduresforthetotaldigestionofsedimentsforsubsequentdeterminationofmetalsbysuchtechniquesasflameatomicabsorptionspectrophotometry,graphite-furnaceatomicabsorptionspectrophotometry,atomicemissionspectroscopy,etc.1.2Thispracticeisapplicableinthesubsequentdeterminationofvolatile,semivolatile,andnonvolatilemetalsofsediments.1.3ActualmetalquantitationcanbeaccomplishedbyfollowingthevarioustestmethodsoutlinedunderotherappropriateASTMstandardsforthemetal(s)ofinterest.Beforeselectingeitherofthedigestiontechniquesoutlinedinthispractice,theusershouldconsulttheappropriatequantitationstandard(s)foranyspecialanalyticalconsiderations,andPracticeD3976foranyspecialpreparatoryconsiderations.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Foraspecifichazardstatement,seeNote7.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.
